Behind it is the Matra MS660.
The Decal ‘SERA CD’ on the MS640 fin was the aerodynamicists who styled the body: http://www.sogeclair.com/filiales/sera/index.php
Robert Choulet is credited (he also worked on the Peugeot 905!), but CD stands for Charles Deutsch, who was one half of the Deutsh-Bonnet concern, which was bought out by MATRA after Deutsch left.
In the years between DB and Matra, Deutsch styled other beautiful LeMans racers such as the CD Panhard, the CD DKW (DKW in the Panhard chassis I believe), CD Peugeot (66′ & 67′).
When Peugeot auctioned a good deal of thier museum they sold a complete fiberglass CD shell. It only sold for about $25 euro!
There was also a CD GRAC, which looked a lot like the M640 above. It was slated to be powered by an Alfa Romeo engine, but that dissappeard when SERA signed on with Peugeot…
