I really dig TAG Heuer watches….always have and ever since i got my Monza a few years ago around the time of my wedding—-i’ve started to love them even more! I found this website devoted to restoring and selling gorgeous pre-“TAG” watches made by Heuer. As some of you may know, they added to the “TAG” to the beginning of the name after TAG (an auto/racing parts manufacturer) purchased the Heuer watch company in the 80s.
Heuerboy sells some amazing examples of vintage 60s, 70s, and 80s Heuer watches, alongside ‘other’ brands as well—-as well as some really cool stopwatches and other accessories from the vintage side of the world. Prices are not exactly cheap when converting to the dollar, but i guess if you’ve got the loot—it would be well worth it to spend 950 UK pounds on a vintage black Monza (as pictured above) rather than $1500 on just another run-of-the-mill watch.
anyway—the Heuerboy website itself isn’t exactly a nice website, but his work on these older Heuer watches looks pretty damn impressive, and just to see some nice pictures of his selection is uttery great! So check out the site, and start saving up some change!

I used to hate the new 6-series when it first came out, but these days i really am quite fond of it…..Bangle made me a believer! The original 6-series was a true classic though, and it’s nice to see a pic of them together. I wish they were the same colour though……

What a cool story this is! 21 year-old swede Ola Johansson bought a 1982 Audi Quattro Coupe for 150 Euros, with the dream of turning it into a replica 1987 Pikes Peak S1 Quattro. He had no previous experience in designing/building/engineering, and not much money to start off…..so basically he got to work!! Several months later he had a working (but dirty) version he showed at a local car show. Certain people were very impressed by his work—including people working at Koeniggsegg, who offered him a job there (!). A transformation of his car from a rusty junked Coupe to a serious Pikes Peak replica—-complete with a modded-by-koeniggsegg Porsche-sourced Audi RS2 engine!

I have no idea which Maserati this engine photo is from, but i do LOVE it!

This is a strangely captivating video! Lessons from 1971 to the german police, being shown how to ‘drift’ a car to improve their driving tactics…
as driven by Sir Jackie Stewart circa 1966!
Definitely one of my ALL TIME favourite F1 cars….amazing.

Word is that casting for the upcoming Steve McQueen film Steve McQueen: Portait Of An American Rebel has commenced and that the role of Mr. McQueen is being offered to Brad Pitt.
I’m a huge Steve McQueen fan..and am really excited about a film portraying the adventures and life of Mr. McQueen—and while i think Brad Pitt is a pretty decent pick for this role, i just hope he gets into the role enough to really transmit the soul of McQueen.
Steve McQueen fully absorbed himself in films while he made it; during the film Le Mans, he fully integrated himself with the race, the lifestyle, and the actual driving. Such is that I hope Pitt is able to understand the character of McQueen and really display McQueen’s character rather than his own…When i told my wife about this—she thinks Jude Law would be a better choice, mainly because he looks more like McQueen. I think my wife just digs Jude Law! ha.
Either way, i’m looking damn forward to it, and it will surely be the most anticipated film of 2010.

Chris Harris is by far the best automotive video reviewer i’ve seen in recent times….and this is a great review of the brand new 997 GT3 courtesy of Drivers Republic
Vodpod videos no longer available.I loved Saabs growing up….I always used to wish my parents would buy one. Eventually my mum bought a 1999 Saab 9-3 with my pushing, however overall it was a dissappointing car. By that time, Saab had already disintegrated into a puddle of poo laid by General Motors.
How can a company, which built the utterly charming, classic, and timeless original Saab 900s of the 70s and 80s LOSE THE PLOT like Saab has? Was it puretly GM screwing it all up? Or did Saab, as a company, just give up! I’m not sure of the truth, but I am sure that this company has all but gone down the tubes completely.
There is one solution, in my opinion. Saab needs to get back to their roots. Abandon all this 9-3, 9-5 crap….and start focusing on the 900 line of cars again. BRING BACK THE SAAB 900, YOU FOOLS!!!
If i had the money, i would buy this infected company, fire all the useless designers who keep believing that the rubbish 9-5 design is great and should be ‘tweaked’ every 2 years to try and reinvent the car—–and come up with a young, fresh, design team who loved the old 900 growing up…..and GO RETRO. Yeah, i know lots of people hate that word; “retro”, but in a case like this—-the 900 should have been to Saab what the 911 was to Porsche. It should have become an evolving design with evolving performance.
Shame on you, Saab—-for screwing it all up. I AM ALSO LOOKING AT YOU, Volvo!
Here’s a rendering i found online, not exactly what i’m thinking of—-but a good start!
One of the MOST beautiful Lamborghinis to my eyes is the ISLERO. 2nd only to the ESPADA (see banner). Here is a youtube video compiling all the scenes with Roger Moore driving around in an Islero in the film “The Man Who Haunted Himself”
Glorious car it was……
This is a lifestyle blog, not simply about cars. But about all things for all men. This isn’t a crap site like Basenotes where boring one-dimensional donkeys cry and whine about their gutless opinions of rubbish fragrances. IEDEI focuses on cars, however has a firm grip on quality items for all petrolheads. One of the things i became quite interested in last year or two was fragrances—especially leather fragrances. The finest leather fragrance i have ever tried (and i’ve tried MANY) is surely the glorious KNIZE TEN. Currently, this is one of THE harder fragrances to find—as there was no official US distributor…but all of this has changed!
Over the past year or so, i’ve been in consistent communication with the good folks over at the Austrian offices of Knize and also at the german perfume office. This morning, they informed me that a US distributor for 5 lines of KNIZE products has been secured! Yes, from Maine—a company named Waldron Group has been confirmed as the exclusive distributor of Knize products here in the USA.
For those of you who haven’t tried KNIZE TEN, it is an extremely artistic, classic, controversial, and unique fragrance—equal parts leather, bitter tar, citrus, and hints of florals. But this is truly THE quintessential MAN SCENT. It is a must try, and a must own. I will fill you in on more details when they happen…..and a launch date is expected in the Summer of 09. Finally, the good petrolheads of this country will stop smelling like Armani, Creed, Gucci, and all that other trendy rubbish!
So firstly, the Boom Boom Satellites very much impressed me by using an Alpine A110 on the cover of their Debut album, “Out Loud” back in 1999 or so. They also used an Alpine A310 in their video for “Push Eject” off that same album…fantastic.
When asked about the cars being used, they said “Yeah, we used a photo of Renault Alpine for the last album. I like sports cars from the late sixties to early seventies: I feel driving those cars is a natural extension of our hands and feet.”
check out the video to see them rollin in an A310:
I’m not a big fan of modern supercars….most of them aren’t evil enough….they’re more for the dumb-with-small-cocks (oh hello there FERRARI!) of society who have the money, but don’t have the soul. There are exceptions to this of course…..ahem….several exceptions. This is definitely one of them. Probably the most evil supercar i’ve seen lately…..and even cooler as it is the first supercar ever from Denmark!
I don’t even care if it is able to handle the 1100+ hp engine, or if it will be able to handle any turns (although the video on the official site is quite praising of its handling), because it looks INCREDIBLE. Evil just might have returned to supercars…….introducing the Zenvo ST1.

Not too many details out about this, however it seems that an Ayrton Senna documentary has been given the go ahead and is currently casting and organizing. I wonder if F1 and Bernie-the-keep-everything-F1-related-inside-of-F1 will even allow this film to happen…..they should, as if anyone deserves a film about himself, it is most certainly Ayrton Senna. More details HERE
Meanwhile, to keep you busy til this film comes out, here is a 6-part documentary about Senna. Well worth watching:
