One of THE coolest automobiles ever made, obviously. The Alpine A310.
Today I had some time to kill while waiting for an annual NYS car inspection for the TT, so i walked over to a bookstore and saw a book of B&W photographs by Tseng Kwong Chi and was struck by their coolness. These photos were taken in the 1980s and published in a series known as East Meets West.
To me, he comes across like a futuristic asian tourist-slash-government official investigator! brilliant.

Relaxing by the side of the track! This photo was taken by Bernard Cahier. I don’t know who the relaxing man is sitting at the side of the track.

A gentleman doesn’t need a gun to be a man. BAN THEM. The discussion is finally emerging. Could we finally evolve as a society? Remains to be seen. A member of my family was held at gunpoint a few months ago while they were walking to work….every day 90 people in this country die from an idiot firing a gun. Enough is enough.
Write to your local senator or government official. Make it known you do not want guns circulating through your community.
If you are “pro gun” you should be (A) ashamed of yourself and (B) not commenting here, as your comment will be deleted and you will be marked as spam. This is not a debate…this is me telling you what I believe should happen. If you want a debate…go somewhere else.
The Race of Champions is always an interesting event. Not 3+ hours interesting….but easy to forward through and watch a couple random races.
to me, the Leica M5 is the epitome of cool when it comes to camera equipment. The insanely good looks, the controversy and uproar it created against it in the 70s, and the beauty of using it.
So why do I need $14,411? So I can buy these 2! Sealed in their original Leitz (Leica) packaging from the factory shipment—2 M5s in serial number sequence! Nerdiness? Yes. Coolness? YES.
Here’s the weird auctionl
These photos are taken by me, using my Leica M8.1 (M8u) and a combination of lenses including a Summilux 50mm F1.4, CV Nokton 35mm F.4, Chiyoda Kogaku Super Rokkor 50mm F1.8, and a Summicron 40mm F2
what a GREAT photo of a B5 A4 (1.8T quattro).
quattro season is upon us! get your grip out.

Here are some actual pics of that BMW 4-series Coupe I posted about yesterday—-courtesy of the finest magazines in the world, Intersection
It looks great. First 3-series….uhh..4-series i’ve liked in a looooong time!
BMW fires back with a pretty wicked looking new 4-series coupe concept. Let’s face it….BMW hasn’t made any good looking 3-series coupes since the E36. The E46 was rounded, bloated, and pedestrian to look at….the E92 looked like a gigantic Civic. This new 4-series coupe hits the spot. Just don’t look at the hideous rear bumper. Everything else on it is nicely done, and pretty impressive for BMW. It seems they are finally realising that the devil is in the details……taking a hint from the Audi school of design on making the little design elements count. Nice one, BMW……consider me impressed! First the beautiful 6-series Coupe and Gran Coupe, now the 4-series? The propeller may be on the rise…..sort of….oh wait, i just remember that horrific concept they showed in L.A last week. Nevermind!

Firstly, i detest taking the NYC subway. Having said that, I will concede that it is the most efficient way to get around NYC, as well as the cheapest. But it is dirty, too congested, unpredictable, chaotic, and most of all a deposition of individuals into mass movement. I am not compatible with mass movements or mini-migrations of sorts. I will assume that either you think I am (A) looking down upon commuters or (B) am an elitist. The first is definitely not true, and the second is up for debate.
I did, however, enjoy these photographs by Daniel Zvereff taken in the subway.
I grew up in Detroit. The long-dead and abandoned Packard plant has become somewhat of a famous place there…but I never get tired of seeing the comparisons of how it is now compared to when it was in its functioning days.
some very cool pictures at the Freep
I am glad it is sold out because i would have ended up spending $74 on this Joy Division pillow in a heartbeat.
And this concludes the first and (likely) last post about a pillow you ever seen on IEDEI.
Most new (and old for that matter) cars bore the crap out of me. the new Porsche Cayman is not one of those cars. I still want a Cayman R and now i want the brand spankin new 2014 Porsche Cayman. Superb!
some actual photos published by digitalTrends. WICKED.
Most of these are taken with the Leica M8, although picures #3-7 are taken with my new pocket Ricoh GRD-III (which is great, by the way).
lenses used: Chiyoda Kogoku Super Rokkor 50mm F1.8 and Summicron 40mm F2. The Super Rokkor is total magic, i must say.
I will be posting some M5 photos next week. The first roll was riddled with dust and scratches on the film (although they did look quite tastefully artful i must say).
