foto of the day: GranTurismo.

I have to be honest and say that a couple of years ago, when this current Maserati Granturismo Coupe came out, i was completely underwhelmed.  I thought it looked like a gigantic Mazda RX-8 built by Fiat……however SO WRONG I WAS.  A few years later, it has become one of my favourite designs in all of the automotive world.  There’s something about the Maseratis of the last 5-7 years which has made them age very gracefully; Coupe GT, Quattroporte, and now the Granturismo.

Anyway, i want one. bad.  I could never say that about any Ferrari….

Another new car I agree with you. The only difference is that I loved it from day one. There was a Maserati showroom just across the street from where I live. I remember walking out every day and looking at it for 5 min before going to work. A truly beautiful car. Only I have slight reservations about the back design, same goes for the Maserati Coupe. I think the Quatroporte is the best balanced car of the range both front and back designs, but it’s not as emotional and beautiful as the GranTurismo.
About the current Ferrari range I think the Italia will age very well but I wouldn’t want one now because it too much of a poser’s car at the moment. In about 10 years when all the posers have move to the latest V8 mid-engined model, maybe the Italia will be more mature choice. Right now the Ferraris I would love are the 355 and the 550 (of the modern era ones).

i agree with you about the Ferraris for sure. To me, the last truly beautiful Ferraris were the 550/575 range. The 355 was definitely great…..everything after that I have found overblown and overdone. You’ll notice i rarely cover Ferrari on this blog, and it’s because they already get ENOUGH coverage from other sites and enthusiast corners…..

As for the Maserati, i didn’t like the rear of the coupe at all when it first came out—-especially when compared to the crazy loopy lighting of the european Coupe in the previous generation. The Quattroporte is quite simply the most beautiful 4 door sedan in my opinion…..so well designed, so nice to look at.
