I am in love with fonts. In a different life, i would sit in a studio all day designing fonts. I am perpetually looking at fonts: on signs, on websites, in films, on cars, on badging, on artwork, in books, in magazines, old, new, ugly, beautiful—they just fascinate me!
Here’s a wicked and creative video flashing the history of typography in 5 minutes, by Ben Barrett-Forest:

Of all typefaces I’d have to say Helvetica is my favorite. It was used by Studebaker starting circa 1963 on their dealer signs, in their commercials and on their hood-ornament bases.
Mike: Helvetica was a total gamechanger in modern typography…..for sure! Pretty cool that Studebaker was such an early adopter of such a ‘clean’ font…..as i think the font itself was born out of the 1950s.
also…you may already know this, but there is a 2007 documentary about Helvetica and its impact on modern culture…..

I’ll have to check it out…thanks!
