hired chinese men destroy a lamborghini gallardo.

this is disturbing.  a bit more backstory below…

photo and story:

“The businessman from Qingdao says the engine of his Lamborghini Gallardo failed to start on November 29, 2010, just six months after he bought it. As any other car owner would do, he contacted the Lamborghini dealer in Qingdao, and the trailer of a maintenance service provider entrusted by the dealer was sent to carry the car to a designated maintenance shop. When his Lamborghini was returned, the owner noticed the engine problem still hadn’t been fixed, and that the bumper and chassis had been damaged, probably during the towing.
When the owner pointed out the problems at the maintenance shop, they denied his claims and simply ignored his consumer rights, so the owner tried to work things out with Mr. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini’s China division, with the auto-maker’s after-sales service manager for Asia-Pacific region, and even with brand owner Volkswagen Group, but no one took responsibility for what had happened.” The rest can be told in the photos below.”

As the story goes—he hired a bunch of men to destroy his Gallardo——to get back at Lamborghini China.

Weird and bizarre VWs in the chinese market…

Yeah, there are some oddities in the VW lineup when it comes to selling stuff in China. Most of all is the super weird MK2 Jetta, which is still a huuuuuge seller in the chinese market!  How the chinese keep buying it is beyond me.  It looks absolutely miserable.  The original MK2 was actually pretty damn good looking for the time—-the revised one, as you can see below…..is just……weird.

Then comes another grand surprise! VW still sells a version of the Quantum (yes, the 1980s VW Quantum!) under the name Santana Vista. How does it look? Well, again…it looks completely terrible.  Archaic technology, only the chinese could love….

Next there are two cars i have NO IDEA about.  One is called the VW Lavida….which looks almost like a Daewoo/Chevy/Kia and the other is just a bunch of chinese letters i cannot read.  These cars are probably being made in China or Korea, and selling under the guise of VW.  I can’t be arsed to really look up what they are….but it’s strange to see two VWs selling under the badge, while completely unknown outside the Chinese market.vw_lavida

SAAB will be cool again! KoenigSAAB is born!

koenigsegg_saab

Well i gotta say i was very happy when i learned today that Swedish supercar maker Koeniggsegg appears to be the buyer of the troubled GM-owned SAAB brand.

I had been pretty harsh on Saab a few weeks ago in my post about their direction, but it’s really nice to see them escaping the diseased hands of GM.

This is gonna be a fascinating combination.  So will SAAB go back to being a smaller niche company?  Or will K-Segg try and turn them into a higher volume, money-making swedish trickster?  My suspicions tell me that they’re gonna keep SAAB very specific, very swedish, and bring some of the soul back that’s been lost.  Whether they go retro or they go futurist—-i’m pretty sure that Koeniggsegg is really gonna put some good time and effort into resurrecting one of the cooler brands of cars around today.  It’s also REALLY nice to see Saab going back to Sweden….and not being sold to some rubbish Chinese carmaker….
