Audi now have 11 victories in 13 years, and one of those being the Audi-in-disguise Bentley Speed 8.  Total dominance!  The last few laps were taken with 4 R18s running side by side, making for some phenomenal atmosphere!  More pics as they are released…No other team has ever shown this sort of dominance at Le Mans in such a short period of time.

Today, the 1st and 2nd place finishing cars were the Audi R18 e-tron quattro hybrid, making it the first AWD and Hybrid car to ever win the greatest race in the world!  The #1 R18 e-tron quattro finishing the line in 1st place.

As an Audi fan and as a Le Mans enthusiast, I watched 18 hours of this race.  I hope some of you enjoyed the coverage using the links I posted here last night.  It was a hell of an adventure!  I hope to make it to La Sarthe one of these days.  Congratulations to the entire Audi Sport program!

Lurking in the shadows…

What a week it’s gonna be for the Audi Sport team at Le Mans!  4 R18s are ready to pounce next weekend.  Here’s a photo of the sinister R18 e-Tron quattro lurking in the transporter.

As an Audiphile, this week feels like a holiday! You’ll be seeing a lot of Le Mans coverage through next weekend on here…as Audi gets ready to surpass Ferrari on the Le Mans all-time win list this year.

quattro returns to racing! Audi R18 e-Tron quattro.

I’m so excited about this; the next Le Mans is going to be absolutely wicked!  Audi today introduced the latest variation of last year’s Le Mans winning R18, the R18 e-Tron quattro, marking the first AWD race car entry by Audi in a looooooong time.  This is a complicated drivetrain, with electric motors driving the front wheels, and the diesel motor driving the rear wheels—-with variation between them, so the front wheels serve as stabilizers depending on when the electric motor is on and what direction the car is turning in.  Surely this has added weight as well, but it will be fascinating to watch the TDI R18s running simultaneously with the e-tron R18 quattros!  As with most street and prior race-spec’d Audis….the grip gained by quattro will likely make up for any weight difference.
