time to let Tesla Motors fade away

Tesla Motors has never been a company which has been able to back up their rhetoric with a product as advertised, market or sell anything other than a rebodied Lotus Elise with a bunch of batteries in it, OR bring anything to the market as they’ve promised in the past.  Instead, they have sucked money out of the US Government, Toyota, and floating a stock IPO.  What’s the result?  Well the US Government had given them $465m in financial grants, and they have produced 1000 jobs.  really? Where did that money go?

Word to Tesla—-if you’re going to pull a scam, don’t get the government involved—–because YOU are gonna get burned in the end.   The public has their eye on you, and the image of Tesla Motors ain’t so good right now.  I’m not sure what kind of dream land the people in this company think they’re in, however in my opinion “all hype and dead products” companies like Tesla should be left out to dry.

Here’s to the US government NOT granting you more money, as you are asking.  Maybe they’ll get smart and fund a company that doesn’t talk so much smack, and actually produces something worthwhile.

To Tesla?  If you convince me that you have a product worth developing and selling, i might retract these opinions; but as of right now I have no reason to believe any of this is worth taxpayer money.  Everything i’ve seen by Tesla looks like a business pitch, an opportunistic one at that.

the ugliest car in the world….

JUST GOT UGLIER!

my purpose for this post is a sinister one.

A) i want this photo to become the #1 google image result for the Toyota Prius

B) i want ‘prospective’ Toyota Prius buyers to come here, and understand that they look like idiots driving around in their ugly box of batteries and electronic wankery

C) i want these US buyers to consider buying a clean diesel VW Golf TDI or Jetta TDI—which get similar MPG performance—-and save  the world the horror of seeing this ugly Prius monstrosity on our streets.  Think of the children, people!!!

editorial: Honda, Toyota & the US market.

How Honda and Toyota took over the U.S. market.

In the past fifty years, the US auto market has declined tremendously.  With the recent bankruptcy and unsteady industry forecasts, Americans feel uneasy giving their hard earned money to a faltering establishment.  As a result, foreign auto makers like Honda and Toyota are capitalizing on the prospect, raking in all of the U.S. auto business.  In addition, Honda and Toyota continue to break the barrier of new technologies which astound the industry time and time again.

Honda has enjoyed much success in the U.S. auto markets.  With the introduction of the Civic in 1975, Honda’s popularity rose with each passing year.  The new, lighter Honda Civic rivaled its U.S. competition with its low weight and small exterior.  Furthermore, the EPA, in order to reduce emissions, required the addition of expensive catalytic converters in all cars manufactured for the United States auto industry.  As a result, sticker prices rose while consumer demand plummeted.

As American auto makers rebuilt their exhaust systems, Honda busied themselves with the creation of the new CVCC stratified charge engine.   Cars built with these new engines passed the required emissions tests without the need for expensive catalytic converters.  This charge engine technology burst onto the scene with the 1975 Honda Civic, a car met with extreme consumer demand.  With the rising costs of gas and auto insurance, Americans turned their focus to the Japanese auto maker to save money.

Toyota cars unsafe?

toyota prius

Is Toyota covering up some sort of a real unintended acceleration problem?  Could this be a re-hash of Audi in the 80s? Audi nearly went bust after this issue…could this mean that the Toyota empire is on the brink of getting into a ton of trouble? Guess we’ll have to wait to find out…

Here at IEDEI, we are just hoping that the Prius is the main car affected by this, and all the cars are collected and destroyed! ha!

supercar FAIL? Lexus LF-A

11-lexus-lfa-press

Who is gonna buy a  $200k+ Lexus?  I know most people who are shopping for a car with a $200k budget are certainly NOT going to.  So who is gonna buy it? The Japanese, probably…and maybe some arab and korean billionaires.  Who is gonna ditch a Lambo to buy this? or a GT3? or an F458 Italia?

Obviously, Lexus are making this car for image’s sake—however it certainly doesn’t have a classic shape in any way, in fact it reminds me (almost a little too much) of those awkward “sports cars’ they used to sell in the 80s and 90s—like the Dodge Stealth, Subaru SVX, and Nissan 300zx.  Cheesy, at best…

So congratulations Lexus, you’ve built one hell of an ugly supercar.  But what can it do?  Looks like pretty standard supercar stuff as you can read below.  Nothing a Porsche turbo can’t deal with…

LImited to 500 cars

560hp. 4.8L V10. 8500 rpm redline.

3265 pounds.

0-60 in 3.7 seconds. Top Speed 201 mph

Price: est. $200k

IEDEI vs. Toyota Prius (Round 1)

toyota_prius

I’m really hoping some of you reach this blog, while researching information about the Toyota Prius.  If you were googling for reliability, pricing, consumer reviews, problems, troubleshooting, whatever.

Let’s start by stating the obvious; the Toyota Prius is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE car.  It is SLOW, it is severely UGLY, it handles like feces, and it quite simply lacks any character.  The car is all hype, and for the several thousands upon thousands of minions who were too dim to actually bother trying to find a proper car and instead ended up with a Prius; think about what this car says about you.

Why bother dressing in a suit to go to work in a Prius?  You’ve already told the world you don’t give a crap what you look like; which is exactly why you’ve rolled into the work parking lot driving a misproportioned wedge.

You wanted economy……OHHHHHHH.  So why have you not picked up a hugely efficient new Diesel which runs clean without spilling Nickel into the environment like the cancerous Prius seems to do.  Audi, VW, and BMW are all making solid diesel cars at the moment.  You can’t afford an Audi or BMW? Fine…..then drive over to the VW dealership and get a Rabbit (Golf in 2010) or Jetta TDI.  You’ll pull a solid 40-50mpg everywhere you go—and it won’t take you 15 years to get to 60mph.  More than that though, your friends will like you a little bit more, and the grass on your lawn will STILL be growing greener than ever.

Saving a few $$$ is not worth making an ass out of yourself.  The truth of the matter is; people hate seeing a Toyota Prius in front of them on the freeway, or getting stuck behind one in the city is generally worse than getting stuck behind a bus. Occasionally, you’ll see a minion of a human driving a Prius really really really fast (which is generally 40-50mph….fast for a Prion…err..Prius) and doing all sorts of weird maneuvers trying to draw attention to their strange little car.  Sometimes I wonder if these people think they are driving a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) tuned sports car?  Do they KNOW how slow and underperforming of a car they are actually driving?

You are NOT making the world a better place by buying a Prius.   You’re just making yourself look like a twit.

If I had extra money lying around, I would buy a Prius—-to have it junked and crushed for kicks!
