Elan +2S

The Lotus Elan—-a car i love, but largely ignore.  I have to say….this 2+2 is beautiful with a much nicer roofline than the original Elan, IMO—-and very nicely appointed interior.  It’s on sale…..for only $40k!  Come on and buy it….you only live once.

This car is completely restored and is a 1971.  Follow the link at the bottom for more info:

the car is on sale at Hyman Ltd.

epic Alfa Romeo Montreal for sale.

I don’t know how much it will go for—-but it looks pristine.  Totally restored and a beautiful shade of Blue.  I’m not sure if the interior looked like that originally—-but I don’t care, it is stunning.

The Alfa Romeo Montreal is definitely one of my favourite Alfas ever made—maybe THE most favourite Alfa made as far as i’m concerned.  This one hits all the right buttons.

…and how do i raise $27k?

If you’ve read this blog, you’ll know that i have 2 ‘favourite’ forms of Porsche 911——the 997 GT3 and the 911R.

To me the 911R is THE definitive 911—-more than a Carrera RS, more than any of the others….

And here is a 911R replica hot rod for sale in California, for a very respectable $27k.  $27k? for a fully spec’d, restored 911R kitted 1968?  Epic cool.  I have to say that i’m not really a huge fan of the ‘matte’ paint scheme on it, although i do LOVE the actual grey-blue colour they have used.

Otherwise, this is probably the perfect used 911 for me….wow.  Now if i can just make this blog as big as it is in my head to raise me the $27k to purchase it.

beast of a Mangusta.

Brad Automobiliac had sent me a video with a weird, fat looking Blue Detomaso Mangusta running laps….and that blue Mangusta has been stuck in my head for a couple of weeks now.

But i have found photos of it!  At least I believe it is the same one….it is absolutely BRUTAL looking.

Alfa Romeo Museo Storico

My fellow Brooklyn dweller over at Automobiliac has just paid a visit over to the Alfa Romeo Museo Storica in Arese, Italy. He’s also taken some great photos, and here are just a few to check out.  Click on the link below to see the rest of them…..i’m properly jealous!

Heuerboy

I really dig TAG Heuer watches….always have and ever since i got my Monza a few years ago around the time of my wedding—-i’ve started to love them even more!  I found this website devoted to restoring and selling gorgeous pre-“TAG” watches made by Heuer.  As some of you may know, they added to the “TAG” to the beginning of the name after TAG (an auto/racing parts manufacturer) purchased the Heuer watch company in the 80s.

Heuerboy sells some amazing examples of vintage 60s, 70s, and 80s Heuer watches, alongside ‘other’ brands as well—-as well as some really cool stopwatches and other accessories from the vintage side of the world.  Prices are not exactly cheap when converting to the dollar, but i guess if you’ve got the loot—it would be well worth it to spend 950 UK pounds on a vintage black Monza (as pictured above) rather than $1500 on just another run-of-the-mill watch.

anyway—the Heuerboy website itself isn’t exactly a nice website, but his work on these older Heuer watches looks pretty damn impressive, and just to see some nice pictures of his selection is uttery great!   So check out the site, and start saving up some change!

concept car wasteland: 1955 Cadillac La Salle Roadster.

55cadillac_lasalle_ii_2

The Cadillac XLR is probably the worst example of Cadillac trying to build its own Corvette…it’s merely an overpriced, overstyled, old-man example of a Corvette.  I’m not sure why ANYONE would buy one.

Back in 1955, Cadillac had a go at reviving the “La Salle” nameplate that they had stopped producing back in 1941.  What they came up with were 2 models, a sedan and a roadster.  The roadster is very interesting, a low slung, strangely designed, overly complex, italian-looking design with some pretty cool design features.  It looks about the size of an original Corvette, and even has some similar proportions—however i think it actually looked much cooler than those early Corvettes.  Harley Earl was in charge of this project as well….and its destiny was solely confined to the concept car wasteland!

lasalle2lasalle3

This car was sent to the junkyard to be destroyed…..but apparently a man in Michigan FOUND the car there, and has plans to restore it.

recent photo of it:
