Vettel/A110 photoshoot.

The photos here have been REMOVED due to their unoriginal effects as I was informed by the photographer (Anke Luckmann).  The ORIGINAL PHOTOS have now been uploaded into a new post, thanks to Ms. Anke Luckmann for sending me her original versions of these photos:

A different view of a car show.

These days i’m really annoyed by media photography; everyone goes to the same car shows and takes the same, typical, unstimulating, booooring photos of cars.    I went in the search of more ‘experimental’ auto show photos and happened to find taken by Kai Petermann.

To be honest, I find them interesting….moderately dizzying, moderately useless, however reasonably entertaining!   I believe the 2nd photo is of the new Dodge Dart, however I cannot be entirely sure!

Where is the secret spot?

Well I have to say I am entirely intrigued by these “Secret Spot” pics posted over at Type-01.  If this is a single location; what kind of a location will have the combination of cars seen in this pic?  More mysteriously—–what are those two Bugatti concepts doing there!?!?  I would think those 2 concepts would be under the ownership of Bugatti/VAG.  I don’t recall them ever being produced for private ownership.  Hmm.

Beautiful greyscale photos as well.

Detroit Auto Show: vintage photo archives

Before the days of saturated bloggers filling up the press days of modern Auto Shows, we often forget that only serious journalists were really taking photos and writing up the major international auto shows.  Before digital cameras, blogging, websites, etc—–these photos were mainly issued in newspapers and magazines, and hence we don’t see a lot of vintage auto show photos.

Car & Driver have posted a huge archive of Detroit Auto Show photos and they really are fantastic.  They range through many years, and show how cars were displayed in a different time!  Very cool.   Make sure you check out the link at the bottom to look through the entire archive they have up on their site:

Elan +2S

The Lotus Elan—-a car i love, but largely ignore.  I have to say….this 2+2 is beautiful with a much nicer roofline than the original Elan, IMO—-and very nicely appointed interior.  It’s on sale…..for only $40k!  Come on and buy it….you only live once.

This car is completely restored and is a 1971.  Follow the link at the bottom for more info:

the car is on sale at Hyman Ltd.

Montreal in the Jungle.

I think i’ve mentioned this many times before….but the Alfa Romeo Montreal is just so cool.  Epic cool.  The Montreal pictured here just looks mint…want, bad.

These are some great shots taken by Stoelen7 who also runs a very nice blog entitled Steininge

Audi R8 wins the 12 hours of Bathurst.

Audi entered 3 cars into the 12 hours of Bathurst this year, and the #1 car came out on top after pouring rain and a kangaroo crossing the track!  These R8 LMS specially put forth for Bathurst looks sweeeeet!

Yes, do you have a brochure for a 1965 Matra Djet?

Why, yes of course.

I love the Matra Djet, not just because it was a slightly odder looking, lesser successful, weirdo cousin of the Alpine A110; but because on its own right it is pretty damn wickedly cool!

the ultimate family automobile? B8 RS4.

Well…..actually i think the RS3 might be the ultimate family automobile—-but this new Audi RS4 Avant looks pretty damn wicked, to be honest.  Hey Audi, i know you’re upset i’m participating in this broken embargo; BRING IT TO THE USA!

fotos of the day. vintage sebring/daytona

Nigel Smuckatelli has catalogued many of his photos from the 60s and 70s on his flickr page, and in his own words: “Most of my photos were taken as a college student who volunteered as a safety official at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring in the late 60’s and early 70’s.”

He has literally thousands of photos on his page….a good percentage of them are photos he took, although mixed in there are also stock and obtained photos…..but well worth sifting through them…so make sure you follow the link above! Here are some of his original photographs i loved:

the beauty of the TT.

The MK1 Audi TT is just all types of wonderful.  I’m not just saying that because I have one in the garage—-but because before I got my car—-i fantasized day and night about it, sort of how I fantasize day and night about the Alpine A110 and ur quattro now.  The TT is more than a car, it is true art—-representing a point where history met with the modern world—–technology fell in love with the vintage.   It could have been produced in 1965, or it could have been produced in 2005.

These photos are not of my car, however I stumbled across them looking at photos on Flickr.  These are taken by Chun Yi of his impeccable 2000 225.

Porsche: 24 hours at the Limit

Since I AM too lazy to actually get my Petit Le Mans photos together (i will try to do some on this fine Sunday)—–Porsche has posted some great photos on their Facebook page entitled “24 Hours At The Limit” in a few different galleries.  These photos are comprised of choice photoraphs from the 24 Hours @ Nurburgring  and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

slow week.

I started a new job towards the end of last week—-and my time has been quite consumed over the past week.  Apologies for little to no IEDEI updates.  To make it up to you, here is a megapost with plenty of things which have been consuming my daydreams all week.

cheers—Syed
