the $2.77 million-dollar 1923 Leica
What you’re looking at is the most expensive camera ever sold….the 1923 Leica O-series. Quite beautiful, but absurdly priced! Sold at 2.16 million Euros ($2.77m) at the Westlicht Photographica auctions in Vienna.

IEDEI: The Greatest Hits megapost.
To celebrate crossing the 1 million visit mark this week, this is a monster post of some of my favourite photos and automobiles posted on IEDEI from the past couple of years. I originally started this blog to catalogue my favourite automobiles and photographs, and it is still what I do—-however along the way I have met lots of great people, shared lots of interesting stories, and have learned even more than I already knew about the world of motoring.

This has to be one of THE best openings to any video i’ve seen in a long time….cryptic night time scenes with slowly evolving funkified 1970s psychedelic music makes for video perfection! What a year for great cars in rallying as well! That Fulvia is off-the-hook cool.

I’m not sure how they mounted this onboard camera for this drive (is it on his shoulder!?), however the effect is that it makes you feel like you’re sitting between the driver and navigator…..very disorienting, however feels like you’re really in that superb Alpine A310 V6

the latest social network: “Clarkson Club”
Yes it is made by Jeremy Clarkson (well not made by, but sponsored…), yes it is for people into cars, yes it is slightly ridiculous, yes Jeremy Clarkson’s stamp of approval is like an ‘instant hit’ these days, and yes i probably will join it just for the hell of it.
In all seriousness though—-it is sort of a good idea. There has been car forums for as long as I can remember…but they are usually sort of specific for a particular car. Then there are the larger blogs like Autoblog or Jalopnik….which are fine, but also attract a certain type of person. What about a social network for ALL TYPES of car enthusiasts. Is that what Clarkson Club is trying to do? If not….then someone should do it.
Speaking of which, make sure you add yourself (or “like”) to the IEDEI Facebook page.

If there are 10 songs that soundtrack my life, “Supersonic” by Oasis is in the list, if not at the top or fighting for the top position. I still remember being 18….driving around in my 1st generation Sentra SE-R with “Supersonic” blasting through incompetent speakers at full volume like a possessed vehicle. To this day, if i ever listen to Supersonic while driving—my speeds lose control and I realise I am driving way too fast.
It has everything. Swagger, rhythm, soul, confidence, and melody. I never really gave a crap for The Beatles; they were soft. Oasis were hard. Pure rock and roll for my generation.
