Let’s see; IEDEI and SUVs are simply not compatible. I would rather have brakes and wheels installed into my elbows than to drive most SUVs—–except one! The Land Rover Defender is cool as f*ck! If i were forced to buy an SUV, this would be the one i’d go for. The rest of em—-can go to hell!
the AMC AMX 3 concept was in a series of AMC concept cars for their next generation sports car. Bodied and shelled in Italy by Bizzarrini, however only 5 cars made it through production (with #6 produced afterwards from spare parts) due to high costs and lack of demand for a premium sports car built by AMC. I can’t help but think that this could have been MUCH cooler than the Corvette had it been produced. This could have been THE definitive american supercar——-well, assuming AMC wouldn’t have folded several years later under the buckling pressure of a poor company.
Comments from Richard Teague, designer of the AMX during his time at AMC: read the rest of this interview here
“That’s what killed the program. The bumper standards were just happening… and soft bumpers were being tested on taxicabs in New York by GM at about this time. The technology really wasn’t there to put soft bumpers on the AMX/3 though Pantera made an effort to meet the standards and it did. But it kind of spoiled the front of that car. We just decided the effort involved in all these forthcoming standards… was just too much [on top of] the hassle of trying to get a bodybuilder that could make it at a price that we could sell it for that would be realistic. So all of those things… added up to the program being shelved. But it was a very serious program for a very long time. We tried very hard to make it happen. And we built six prototypes, really. We had a lot of money in the program, not a lot by today’s standards, but for a little company that was trying to make a mark it was, I think, a pretty good effort. At least all six of the cars survive.”
Yes, currently banned for importation into the US—–however I am holding my breath for the 25 year classics rule. One of my all-time favourites, the legendary Audi RS2.
Revealed today. Absolutely gorgeous….probably the most stunning modern race car i’ve seen since the glory days of Le Mans in the 60s and 70s……right fookin on! Peugeot RIP!
this car is amazing. i wanna make it mine! it is of course the superb audi quattro sport concept.
big thanks to Fourtitude for these pics on their FB and here. I’m hugely jealous of George and the Fourtitude guys!!
Thanks to Brad (Automobiliac) for pointing me towards this post on Jalopnik, where they show real life pics of the quattro concept in Malibu, California! The best new design of 2010 looks even better in the real world! WOW! DO WANT.

last week, i visited a classic car dealership with my mate Brad from the Automobiliac Blog. We both scrounged through their classic cars, and both of us were fascinating by 2 cars in particular; 2 Alfa Romeo Montreals, and a Lamborghini Espada (that had a *cough* transplanted Corvette engine). I still haven’t gotten around to making a post about that visit to Gullwing Motors in Astoria, NYC—-but i will this week with some photos.
In the meantime though, i’ve been mentally admiring the uniqueness and beauty of both of those cars; the Montreal and the Espada.
Some nicer Espadas than the one we saw….truly one of the most stunning supercars ever made.
i’m not a big video game buff, but damn i gotta say i’ve HUGELY enjoyed the Gran Turismo series over the years. So many classic cars, new cars, supercars, regular cars, modifying, some of the world’s greatest tracks, places i don’t think i’ll ever go to…..it’s like being able to enact a dream garage as realistically as possible……..
I haven’t bought a PS3, but i’m definitely ready to buy one when GT5 (Gran Turismo 5) comes out. And now, FINALLY, after what seems like several years of rumours and gossip; it seems there are some concrete details!
November 3rd is the day it goes on sale in Japan. What does that mean for us? I have no idea—they’ll probably try to create some cheesy holiday chaos for it, so that none of us will be able to find it…bastards. But in Japan, they will get a special GT5 Edition PS3 bundled package. This is the package I would buy, if they make it available here—here’s to hoping they do. Check out the photo below for what it’ll look like.
