BMW 328 Hommage.
Interesting—-i loved the Mille Miglia concept a few years ago—this continues the look back on history. I don’t feel it is particularly a nice design, however I like certain features which kick back to the past like the leather straps and the ‘bucktooth’ kidney grille in the front. BMW, design-wise, have become a shell of their former self in the past 10-15 years, in my opinion—-and I don’t think it will hurt them at all to look at their historical past for inspiration. Here’s hoping they bring the proper design cues which made them so glorious from the 60s through early 90s back.
This car weighs just around 1700+ pounds! Lightweight engineering, that is something to love.

4Star Classics has some great stuff, and here they present a VERY clean late-model year 1989 Audi (Ur) quattro 10v. It is often thought that these late-model year quattros (made until 1990/91) were some of the best coupes made in this configuration. Sales in this country had all but ended by then, but continued in Europe. This particular one is right-hand drive, but with an immaculate interior and beautiful paint work—as well as those fantastic euro-spec bumpers and headlights.
Costs a little bit over 10,000 GBP….and well worth it.

These are just some amazing videos…..everytime i see the race-prepped Alpine screaming down regular streets as shown in the 1963 video, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! even though we can’t hear them, they just look epic cruising with regular traffic. Some wonderful behind-the-scenes footage in this videos as well, of the construction and of the founder of Alpine, Jean Redele.

the original Lotus Europa was always a bit of an oddball, but so very unique and fascinating. Tiny, light, and quite a sharp handling car as all Lotuses are famous for—-the badge was resurrected in 2006/7 for a lackluster rebodied Lotus Elise they called the Europa—-a shame really, because the original had such immense character.

The owners of early 70s 911s who try to make their cars look ‘modern’ should be imprisoned. This guy, on the other hand has done the glorious thing and ‘backdated’ his 1988 911 into a 1971 Porsche 911 with upgraded parts and spec’d out.
The result is something which is quite simply…..wonderful.

IEDEI Investigation! Pantera?
So back in 2007 and 2008, there was a mystery supercar being spotted around the UK——people thought it was a Lotus or a McLaren prototype. I remember reading that it was the next generation Esprit, the early working prototype of the MP12, and even heard Noble being thrown around.

Eventually, some people decided that it was some obscure, unknown supercar known as the “MCE MC1”, which has since dissappeared into nowhereland. Here’s the original article Car published on the matter:

So i had forgotten about this car—–even though they ‘claimed’ it was something called the “Spectre” or “MCE”.
Yesterday, my friend Ron Southern, who is a fellow Audi TT owner and a De Tomaso Pantera owner and enthusiast, showed me this. THE SAME car exiting the grounds of the De Tomaso factory! Could it be that this is after all the ‘new’ De Tomaso Pantera? It certainly looks 100% the same as the 2007 car which was mysteriously being spotted around town. This video was uploaded on YouTube May 2nd, 2011.

So it seems that either that is a new Pantera OR a car that is being evaluated by the newly resurrected De Tomaso as a possible base for a Pantera.
Noble M600 (now w/ video)
I absolutely love the shape of this car—i’m not exactly why this supercar speaks to me design-wise that few others do—maybe it is the ‘long’ tail feature or maybe it’s just the functional integrity of it being another insane Noble. But it is stunning….
I see bits of Lotus Elise, Audi R8, vague Lamborghini and Ferrari. But the end product is something fantastic.
