James Corbett makes cool sculptures, and the coolest part about the sculptures are that the materials used to make them are entirely from recycled auto parts!

I’ve long been an admirer of Futurist art —it was truly punk ahead of its time. It offended many, was overstated, full of creativity, offensive, but in many ways gorgeous in its honesty, boldness, and artistic integrity.
Balla had originally written the founding manifestos of the Futurist Movement, in which #4 out of 10 was:
“We declare that the splendor of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. A racing automobile with its bonnet adorned with great tubes like serpents with explosive breath … a roaring motor car which seems to run on machine-gun fire, is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace”
an inspiring piece of writing for the 1920s i gotta say….accompanied by this tangential, interesting, and cryptically simple piece of art entitled “The Speed Of The Automobile” (translated into english…)

Well it looks like Rob Ijbema has been hard at work on the new Audi R15 already! He’s already put up a beautiful new painting featurein the recent 12-hour Sebring winning R15.
His paintings are for sale, but they sell quick! so if any of you Audi-philes want this one, be quick!
Paul Chenard has a very cool blog named Automobiliart in which he posts about vintage racing collector art and memorabilia. This piece of Stirling Moss, is just fantastic…and was created by Paul, himself. Great blog though, definitely and check out some of the interesting art and stuff he’s collected and is still collecting.
Shin Yoshikawa is one of the better known cutaway artists around at the moment…and Kai International has a website selling 16×20 inch prints of some amazing cutaway drawings he has made. They’re not too expensive ($10 to $30) and would make for some very nice framing material for your corner of the house or apartment!
A couple of my favourites:
Rob Ijbema is the brilliant artist who has been painting a high volume of paintings devoted to race cars. These paintings are also for sale, if you develop an unhealthy obsession with one of the works! A few months ago, i posted a link to his page. Here are some of the latest favourites of mine (especially the pair of Alpine A310s!) on his car-a-day blog:

Obviously my wife really loves me. She bought me this book for Valentine’s Day today and it is utterly fantastic. Tons and tons of remarkable, artistic photographs for Formula One drivers, pit crews, cars, the chaos, tracks, fans, etc…..it’s just a beautifully put together documentation of the art within F1 racing.
Mikael Jansson is a fashion photographer, who left his roots to spend several years doing F1 photography, and he really captures the essence of the greatest current racing sport in the world.

Well, as you may or may not know—the IEDEI BLOG is based in NYC. Several days ago, I had posted some photos of the Frank Stella BMW 3.0CSL “art car”….now i’ll get to see this car in person, as BMW is taking these cars on a tour. The collection will be on display in Los Angeles, and then make its way to New York City Grand Central Terminal from March 24th-April 5th.
Here’s some video press coverage of the BMW art car exhibit:
This is one of the most impressive blogs and talents i’ve seen in a long time. Rob Ijbema has a blog entitled “Car-A-Day”, in which he puts up amazing paintings of race cars, race circuits, and races—-in an amazing display of talent, sharing of creativity, and charm. These paintings are available as hi-resolution JPGs for your viewing pleasure, and they are also available for purchase in their original form.
Highly impressive stuff. Check it out!!
