A window sticker from a 1979 Porsche 911 SC Coupe. In case you are interested, the original price of $28,660 turns into $87,365 when adjusted for 2011 with inflation over the years. That’s just about the price of an equivelant 911 today!
Documenting the trials of young drivers looking for a chance to break it in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Series. I believe the 1st show aired on April 7th on the Discovery Channel (USA). The trailer looks good! We need more good car-related TV programming!
ah, i had no idea this even existed—-a racing version of the modern Maserati Quattroporte, lovingly referred to as Evo.
This car is privately raced in the SUPERSTARS SERIES and raced this past weekend by a Swiss team at Monza. Hot stuff, yeah….

a couple bonus lo-res fotos of this new find.
I have literally 1000s and 1000s of photos of my favourite car ever, the Alpine A110. I am slowly dispersing these through IEDEI so others can enjoy them. Many of these are very rare, and I have collected them over the past 5 years or so. I don’t have a lot of information on some of them—but when I have info I will pass that along as well. The more vintage and grainy—-the BETTER.
from 1976
i love these vintage programs from the original races; this one is from 1969 Lime Rock….from Progcovers
I’m not a fan of Lexus cars—i think they are mind numbing and quite frankly soulless. Many years ago I test drove a Lexus LS with my father, and I still think of that car as one of the WORST cars I have ever driven. That being said—-take a look at the 2010 Lexus LS engine bay. I don’t think i’ve seen a worse example of an engine bay….well…ever.
i love most TVRs—i think the new ones were brilliantly insane, and the older ones were brilliantly insane. Whenever i’ve been to the UK i keep one eye peeled out for them rumbling by….fantastic.
i found this nice little lo-fi website with little tidbits of history:

I love photos like this, at the same I hate photos like this. Lots of dead old british cars, including some TVRs.

Quattroholic has put up some fantastic scans from an Audi AG book about the 1991 Audi Avus Concept. Hard to believe this was 20 years ago. A lot of the design cues from this car directly influenced future products like the Bugatti Veyron, Audi TT, and Audi R8. The Avus was heavily influenced by the legendary Auto Union race cars of the 20s and 30s—and represented a turning point in modern Audi design.

What do an Avant with 4 rings and an (almost) normal E-class Mercedes have in common? Well…these 2 were series production cars built by Porsche. The RS2 is one of the holy grail cars round here, and the 500E might be one of the unsuspecting sleepers around…

The Canadian who did the European delivery on his new BMW 1M (1-Series M) has documented his delivery of the car in Germany quite extensively. Click the link to check out the full writing and story behind his pick-up (currently still in progress)
Very cool car, and a very cool way to pick up a new car!

Walter Rohrl is part of the team behind the Porsche 911.
Mercedes-Benz is showing photos of their new A-Class Concept. I’m all in favour for small, cool, luxury hatchbacks—-but this Mercedes doesn’t look like a Mercedes. It really looks more BMW from the side (all the slashes and body moldings…very Bangle-ish) and quite Audi from the rear (TOO Audi-ish from the rear)….and maybe Volvo-ish from the front? A pretty interesting design that I quite like in many ways—-but a little sloppy and very uncharacteristic for a Mercedes, in my opinion.
and compare the rear end to the Audi A1 Concept from a couple years ago!
