Many of you know I’m not really a fan of Ferraris……never was as a kid, and am still not today. Without getting into the gory details of WHY I don’t like Ferraris much, I found it interesting sitting behind the wheel of this one —-as I actually quite liked the car. Either way……it is worthy of a foto-of-the-day and had a nice Saturday spent in it being driven around random little out-of-city roads with the engine purring behind my overheated head.
See what happens when IEDEI sits inside a Ferrari? The prancing horse logo starts to glow! ha.
When I first saw the Fisker Karma, I wasn’t too keen on it. But as time as gone by, I think it is a truly stunning & beautiful car with tremendous attention to detail; interior and exterior. Henrik Fisker is a pretty interesting designer (he also designed 2 of my favourite modern designs; the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin AMV8), and I think he’s designed a pretty remarkable car. I’d have one in black with the full Alcantara interior….and when I mean “full”….i mean REALLY full Alcantara interior (dash, steering wheel, console, seats, etc). Wicked.
And it’s promoted with a pretty fantastic print ad!
The latest in the Depth of Speed series, and in my opinion the best video in the series by quite a margin—Eric Bauer and his KPGC10 GT-R. Beautiful. Eric seems genuinely gushing over his purchase, and rightfully so!
Nice video too—with no overdramatic cheeseball piano music like most of the ‘new’ car videos are inserting!
Through my love of Alpine, I have also found myself in appreciation of other French racing marques such as Matra and Panhard. There really is a huge lack of information or literature about Panhard, however luckily such is not the case with Matra.
Automobiliac posted these great Matra cutaway drawings done by Robert Roux a couple of years ago! Go there to see a blistering video of a MS650 screaming across the track!
These photos may be digitally altered/edited, but it doesn’t matter as they’re pretty damn cool. I’m digging the minimalist stone background. “Leda and the Swan”, as described:
“A modern reinterpretation of the Greek myth, the images capture a woman in an Escada wedding dress and a white vintage Porsche 928, photographed by Alex Rank within digital sets designed by adNAU’s Tino Schaedler.”
Well this is pretty damn wicked. This is going to create a whole new generation of 10 year-olds making films with little projectors! Directed by The Theory.
Unlike many modern workers, I still work in a somewhat traditional environment (Hospital) and each day I wear a dress shirt, a tie (50% of the time), a sport coat or blazer, and dress pants. I do think that modern men have lost the ability to properly dress for work and it’s a real shame. I see younger men in NYC walking to work dressed like they’re going to grab a sandwich (jeans, t-shirt, crap shoes), and to be honest it’s a damn shame.
To me, it doesn’t have to do with wealth as much as it does an appreciation of one’s work and respect for the environment around them. It shows one has the thought to care about their workplace, and has the dignity to spend the few extra minutes a day to look presentable outside to complement staying presentable inside. In the old days, coats and dress shirts were not only for the wealthy—they were for everyone. Taxi drivers wore shirts and ties, janitors wore uniforms—people had dignity about the service they were providing. These days, people don’t care about dignity—-they want their money and they want to go home. Definitely a damn shame…
If you’ve read IEDEI, you will surely remember that I have quite a big soft spot for Dunhill clothing and accessories. I do have a few Dunhill shirts and they are extremely comfortable and sharp fitting.
Great video showing the making of a Dunhill custom tailored shirt.
This is a place i’d really love to go to. The Audi Mobile Museum of Ingolstadt. There are many photos and videos of this fantastic place online, but I love the photography done by Yan Alexandre for Blenheim Gang
Beautiful painting by Meier, of the superb Panhard-Levassor CD #53 car which raced in the 1962 Le Mans. It also came in 1st place for the “Performance Index” (calculated by Performance: Energy ratio).
This car has already become a chameleon, donning at least 4 different types of wheels from all the photos i’ve seen so far. Well here are some great shots of it around the Monaco circuit today!
Luke Haines is a bit of a minor genius after his small-time successes with The Auteurs (who were indeed pretty excellent) and then his solo work as well as Black Box Recorder. Here’s a bit of an odd, interesting, and pleasing bit of music entitled “The Art of Driving” by Black Box Recorder.
